BP500
Green-Blue Bandpass Filter
Blue-green bandpass filters have typically been recommended for use inside cameras to block infrared and most red light.
The single substrate, hard-coated BP500 is an absorptive color glass filter that does not employ coatings for additional blocking. MidOpt does not recommend this filter for any machine vision application, however many competitiors offer this as a standard blue-green bandpass filter. It generally blocks red and near-IR wavelengths. Because we often hear from customers that will consider using only this type of filter, we supply it to those who insist upon having it.
For most blue-green LED applications, MidOpt recommends our BP525 Green Bandpass Filter or SP585 Cyan Dichroic Shortpass Filter over the BP500. In particular, the BP525 has a higher peak transmission (>90% vs. just 86% in the case of the BP500), a more compact yet broad peak, complete blocking of UV and IR wavelengths, and much steeper cut on and cut off slopes. All of this translates into far brighter, much higher contrast images when using a BP525 filter instead of a BP500 filter.
