Close-Up Lenses

One of the most cost-effective ways to enlarge a view through a lens, instead of buying a new lens, is to use a two-element close-up diopter, also known as an achromat. This handy accessory is, simply put, a high-quality magnifier that threads onto the front of a lens and allows you to get closer than a normal lens would.

Diopter strength is measured in units aptly known as diopters. The diopter strength of a more powerful close-up lens is a higher number than that of a weaker one.

The Close-Up Lens Set from MidOpt consists of one each +1, +2 and +4 diopter lenses, each mounted in a threaded, black anodized aluminum ring. The lenses can be threaded onto each other, making the magnification power greater than using a single diopter. Individual close-up lenses are also readily available from stock.
