Scratch Resistant Acrylic

These cast acrylic filters are particularly suitable for use in FDA applications. Both scratch-resistant and high-efficiency broadband anti-reflection coatings have been applied to both surfaces via vacuum evaporation. These coatings are unusually dense and rugged, effectively protecting the soft substrate material.

Not only are the filters excellent for use as protective dust covers for any application, but they block most UV light as well. Total visible transmission through the window is about 99% or more.

The AC380 is recommended for use in food, medical and other applications where glass is not permitted to come in contact with the items under inspection.

Cleaning with acetone

Standard thickness is 2.0mm; other sizes available on request. Manufacturers probably don't like to recommend that it can stand up to repeated cleaning with acetone, and frankly it makes us a little nervous to say it as well, but so far we have been unable to get this material to craze or haze or anything else when repeatedly cleaning it with acetone.

The main feature of this coated acrylic is that it is NOT "dip coated" because such coatings are not very durable. BOTH the anti-reflection coatings and scratch resistant coatings on our AC380 are vacuum-sputtered. These coatings are very dense, very uniform (of course), and very durable, and acetone does not appear to reach the acrylic surfaces.

Despite being hesitant to recommend it without any "official" backing, all testing that we've done (repeatedly, on the same and different pieces) shows that it is not in any way damaged by the acetone.

Examples of filter effectiveness.

Standard Threaded Mounts:
We offer standard filter sizes from stock – 22.5mm to 62mm – for same- or next-day shipping. Larger filters – 67mm to 105mm – are made to order and are normally not returnable.

Slip Mounts:
If your lens does not have threads for mounting a filter, Slip Mount adapters are available. Slip Mounts can attach a regular filter to a lens or attach a very large filter to accommodate a wide angle lens. Please call to order Slip Mount adapters.
